Rootstrek Chester

The morning of our third day we took the tube back to the airport to rent a car. Since Brent's family dates back multiple generations in Chester and Cheshire County, our plan was to visit as many churches and sights associated with them as time allowed while we made our way to Liverpool.

Driving on the left wasn't as hard as I thought. The problem for me, however, was sitting and steering on the right. After the first day with the car Brent did all the driving.

We passed some beautiful farmland and old parish churches along the way.

Chester was initially founded as an ancient Roman fort way back in the first century. According to Wikipedia, Chester is one of the best preserved walled cities in Britain.

Even though I don't have ancestral ties to Chester, the city was beautiful and fascinating, and I can't help but include some photos to remember the experience.

Ancient architecture juxtaposed to modern architecture.

We ran into a couple of Mormon missionaries in the center of the town square. Ultimately
there were six of them who set up a display concerning family history. One of them
was gracious enough to take our picture with the Chester Cathedral in the background.

Lots of mixed architecture built over the centuries.

My kind of accommodations!
