Catherine Berry Knights' maternal grandparents were William Berry and Catherine Lane.
William Berry was born in Beccles but moved to London (perhaps for vocational training - he was a "plasterer") where he met his wife, Catherine Lane. We didn't make it to Saint Magnus the Martyr Church where they were married. That church is located on Lower Thames Street about a block from London Bridge.
According to census and church records, William took his wife back to Beccles where their oldest daughter, Susannah, was born. Subsequently, their three younger children were born in Greenwich, now part of the London metropolis.
According to census records, the Berry family lived on Bennett Street in Greenwich. The name of Bennett Street was later changed to Hoskins Street.
The houses currently located on Hoskins Street were probably built after the Berry family lived there, but this brick wall appears to have preceded them. |

Both William and Catherine were buried at the Saint Alfege Church in Greenwich. The church is less than a mile from Hoskins Street. There are no known headstones marking their burial places.
